Volunteer Coordinator

Rural Community Action Ministry (RCAM) has an immediate opening for a part-time 10-hour per week Volunteer Coordinator position. The Volunteer Coordinator position will be based in Leeds, Maine. RCAM is a private non-profit organization providing homelessness and hunger prevention services to 14 rural towns in Central-Western Maine. RCAM has multiple programs to address the needs of those living in poverty:
• A family shelter and senior housing unit
• Fuel, electric, rental and other assistance
• Financial Literacy Education and Self- Sufficiency counseling
• Minor home repairs
• Transportation for seniors to access health care
• Gardening and hunger prevention activities

Close to 100 volunteers assist RCAM with delivering its services in several program areas.

Job Summary/Expectations
The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills and the ability to motivate and encourage a diverse group of volunteers in a variety of volunteer settings. Previous program coordination experience is a plus. Applicants should be self-motivated and willing to work flexible hours based on program need and community outreach and/or fundraising event scheduling.


High School diploma or equivalent. Successful experience working with volunteers. Ability to plan and implement a successful volunteer program. Good communication skills on the phone, in person and in writing. Effective public speaker. Refer to job description for full list of qualifications.


$11 to $20 per hour depending on experience.
